Royal Virgin Islands Police Force officers gathered at Peebles Hospital last night after Sergeant Joseph Toulon, 49, was pronounced dead just before 7 p.m.

Mr. Toulon sustained injuries in a one-vehicle accident in Spooner’s Estate yesterday around 4 p.m. The accident is presently under investigation, according to a police statement.

Commissioner of Police Reynell Frazer cancelled the remaining Police Week activities, including the variety show scheduled last night as well as this morning’s March Against Crime and the cocktail reception this evening.

Mr. Frazer expressed his deep sadness concerning the tragic loss of the officer and to the Toulon family and the officers in a debriefing last night where he shared his thoughts on the death, according to a police statement.

Mr. Toulon has been an officer for more than 22 years and was assigned to the East End Police Station.
