Angels, elves, and even Santa Claus himself entertained residents as they danced and marched to Caribbean Christmas songs like “How Will Santa Get Here” on Christmas afternoon for the Long Bush Christmas Parade.

About 180 residents participated in the parade, which began in Long Bush and passed through Huntums Ghut and Lower Estate, said Jeanette Scatliffe-Boynes, an organiser.

“The idea is to serenade the villages, that they don’t really have to go too far from their homes to come out and enjoy it, and to enjoy the holiday,” Ms. Scatliffe-Boynes said. She added that there were fewer troupes this year, but that spectators still seemed to enjoy it.

Most of the participants are young people from the three villages, Ms. Scatliffe-Boynes said, and the youth were in charge of everything from decorating the floats to choreographing routines and scheduling practices.

“They’re very proud, and they should be,” Ms. Scatliffe-Boynes said.
