Two adjoining businesses in Sea Cows Bay were robbed at gunpoint on Jan. 28, and police said the next day they are seeking witnesses who might be able to help identify the perpetrators. Around 8:45 p.m., two men wearing black hoodies entered De la Santa’s Bakery and Restaurant, and one of them jumped over the counter to grab cash from the store’s register, police said.

No customers were at that business at the time, according to a police statement.

However, the two men then went over to Charles Chill Bar at the rear of the bakery, where they pointed a firearm at two patrons, stole cash and jewellery from them, and grabbed the cashier’s handbag and “a cash pan from the bar,” police stated, adding that no one was injured during the incident.

Police later recovered the contents of the cashier’s handbag and a loaded black firearm magazine, according to the statement.

“Detectives are interested in any information that could help to fast track this investigation and identify the individuals responsible,” police stated. “The assailants were likely outside for some time or in the general vicinity prior to entering the premises.”

Anyone with information is urged to contact the Intelligence Unit at 368-9339, police stated.
