Shots were fired and one suspect was taken into custody after police responded to a report of a home invasion shortly after 3 p.m. Monday in the Cocodella area near McNamara, police said.
“Upon responding to the scene, police engaged the suspects, who were reported to be armed,” according to a short statement released the same day by the Police Information Office. “Shots were fired during the confrontation.”
The apprehended suspect was taken to the Road Town Police Station for questioning, but three other suspects escaped on foot, police said.
They added that one of the suspects sustained injuries, but they did not state whether those injuries were the result of a gunshot wound.
“Despite extensive searches of the area, the outstanding suspects have not been located,” the statement noted. “Enquiries are ongoing.”
Tight-lipped
As of Beacon press time yesterday afternoon, police had not identified the detained suspect or provided physical descriptions of the three who escaped.
They also did not say whether the shots were fired by the police, the suspects or both parties.
