Police officers responded to a report of shots fired in Purcell Estate shortly after 1 a.m. on Tuesday, according to a three-sentence statement the Police Information Office issued the same day.
“While no individuals were present upon arrival, the scene was secured, and an investigation is currently under way,” the statement added. “Further details will be provided as they become available.”
No other information was provided as of Beacon press time yesterday afternoon.
The shooting is at least the third that police have reported in the past month. One man was killed and another seriously wounded in separate weekend shootings on July 27 and 28.
Jareem Todman, 34, was shot multiple times at the Market Square in Road Town shortly after 4 a.m. on July 28, and he was pronounced dead at the scene, police said in a short press release issued at the time.
About seven hours earlier, a man was shot multiple times shortly after 9 p.m. July 27 in the vicinity of the Omar Hodge Fishing Wharf in Baughers Bay, police said.
He was transported to the Dr. D. Orlando Smith Hospital for treatment.
Police have not provided any further information about either incident.
