The territory may be filled with plenty of mango trees, but Michelle Todman knew very little about the tropical fruit — at least until Friday.

The resident decided to kick start her learning experience by buying two species of mangoes at the Mango Array and Tropical Fruit Festival at the Noel Lloyd Positive Action Movement Park.

The event attracted about a dozen vendors, who displayed fresh farm produce, as well as various products made from mango.

As Ms. Todman and other participants perused the items on sale, DJ Lloyd, a senior from Brewers Bay, played old-school music through loudspeakers erected in front of the stage.

“It’s really pretty,” Ms. Todman said of the display of fruits. “I also like the fact that they have a lot of fresh produce, juices and products.”

She bought kidney mangoes and grafted mangoes from Enid Maximea, one of several farmers at the event.

“I don’t remember the taste of [kidney mangoes] but I really like these [grafted] ones,” she said. “I plan to eat them as quickly as possible. They are just delicious.”
