Baker Tilly (BVI) Limited will be hosting a charity fun run/walk on Nov. 24 for Movember. The run starts at 4:30 p.m. from Myetts in Cane Garden Bay and finishes at Rudy’s Bar on the Ridge Road. All competitors will be required to wear a moustache, whether it be real or fake (fake moustaches will be provided). Go to: www.justgiving.com/GetRudeForMovember for more information or to donate. There will be a prize for the person who raises the most money. There will be two categories for walkers and runners. An after party will take place at Rudy’s Bar with food and beverages. The registration fee is $30 and includes the BBQ at Rudy’s, a T-Shirt, a participation medal, refreshments and a donation to Movember.
Running
The 7th BVI Half Marathon will be on Nov. 17. There will be no race day registration. The registration fee includes breakfast, a finishers medal and a official race T-shirt.Registration information can be obtained from Race Director Kay Reddy at: reddyk@blenheimbvi.com or Stephanie Russ Penn at: ivb@mf.iaaf.org. The race will offer a $500 prize for the top male and female runners, with second place in each category bagging $250 and third placers will receive $150. There is also a $150 for the top male and female finishers over 45 years as well as $500 for anyone breaking the 2-year-old course record of 1 hour, 07 minutes and 38 seconds. The 13.1-mile race is scheduled to start and end at the A. O. Shirley Recreation Grounds, after traversing Tortola’s south coast roads.
