The BVI Horse Owners’ Association hosted the Festival Tuesday Races at the Ellis Thomas Downs on Aug. 2.

St. Thomas horse Diablo Fire would take home the $20,000 purse after winning the Premier’s Cup in the sixth race of the day.

Tortola horses Trevelyan and Good Prospecting were favoured to win the feature race, but, in the end, Diablo Fire pranced to the winner’s circle with a time of 1 minute and 55 seconds.

St. Thomas horses started the event strong with two wins

In the first race, Winning Actor beat Rey Meistro Jr. with a time of 1:32.2” to take the seven-furlong Colonial Insurance Allen Hodge Memorial Cup.  

Spirit on Fire came third, while Spotted Demon, Power Ten and Mieces to Pieces followed.

Glorious Memory picked up the first win of the day for the VI in the seven-furlong Tessa Gunter Mares and Phillies Classic with a time of 1:31.”

Other VI winners included Really Up Town in the fourth race with a time of 1:19.3,” and All Country in the seventh race in 1:50.3.”

Kun Dan of St. Thomas won the fifth race in a time of 1:44.3.”
