On Sunday, One Love moved closer to the Sugar Boys — the top team in the BVI Football Association’s national league, after beating rivals Old Madrid, 3-1.

Okeyne Thenstead scored a first half double to give his side a comfortable lead, before Ofaniss Bassaragh secured the victory and all three points, netting One Love’s third goal in the 68th minute.

Rohan Sweeney scored a consolation goal for Old Madrid as time expired, but the score wasn’t enough and the team slipped in to fourth place.

The Islanders had no trouble beating Sea Argo, 8-0.

Fitzroy Daley scored three times in less than five minutes in the first half. The goals came in the 18th, 22nd and 23rd minutes.

Mr. Daley added a second half hat trick to take his tally to six goals, while Ranalle Cain also contributed a goal,  while Sheldon Harry won over the crowd with a goal in the 73rd minute.

The Islanders now have 10 points, sitting in third place, with One Love is in second with 16 and the Sugar Boys remain at the top with 19 points.

The last match of the weekend featured the Rebels beating the Wolues, 3-1.

Chadwick Evans opened the scoring for the Rebels in the 36th minute, while Vernol Richards made it 2-0 in the 56th minute.

Phillip Nelson scored for the Wolues in the 89th, before Mr. Evans won the match with a goal in the 90th minute.
