Glenn Callwood, widely known in the territory as “Supercop,” has been found guilty of grabbing a man’s testicles, but his lawyer plans to appeal the verdict.

Following a trial, Magistrate Dr. Velon John found Mr. Callwood, a 15-year veteran of the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force, guilty of indecent assault.

The attack occurred sometime between Nov. 1 and Dec. 31 in a small shed at the back of the Road Town Police Station grounds, according to prosecutors.

Mr. Callwood was found guilty of assaulting Ishmael Harrigan, who took the stand during a trial earlier this month.

Mr. Harrigan testified that one morning in December 2012, the defendant entered the maintenance shed of the police station and acted inappropriately.

“I felt a stinging blow coming from my testicles,” he told the court. “I was so much in pain from this blow. Your body just freezes.”

Under cross-examination, Mr. Callwood’s attorney, Stephen Daniels, suggested that the allegations were part of a plot to take down “Supercop” for doing his job: handing out traffic tickets.

“Are you aware that he even gave his own mother a traffic violation?” Mr. Daniels asked the witness at one point in the trial.

The court also heard from Detective Israel Sergeant, who investigated the matter.

Mr. Daniels said yesterday that he was surprised by the verdict and expressed his intention to appeal the decision.

Mr. Callwood, who is interdicted from duty, is scheduled to appear in court for sentencing on Feb. 6.
