However, on Monday, he put aside his regular schedule to join more than 200 taxi drivers and tour operators for a Taxi Academy Workshop at the Eileene L. Parsons Auditorium at H. Lavity Stoutt Community College.

During the three-day workshop, Mr. Callwood hopes to learn lessons that will help him better serve tourists, he said.

“You never get a chance to fix a bad first impression, so when you pick up the tourists, you have to give them some real good treatment and be nice so that they enjoy their stay,” Mr. Callwood said shortly after the opening ceremony.

During the workshop, participants will learn about customer service and how to “maximise every avenue of business strategies to improve service quality,” said Vionie Pickering, standards manager at the BVITB.
