Two men accused of separate burglaries have recently been arrested and charged, according to the Police Information Office.

James Leonard Jr., 18, of Cooper Island, appeared before the Magistrates’ Court on Jan. 27 and pleaded guilty to charges of burglary and criminal damage, police said. He was remanded for sentencing on April 8.

Mr. Leonard allegedly broke in to a restaurant on Main Street about two weeks ago, police said. They did not name the restaurant or give the exact date of the crime.

Second suspect

Police also charged a 19-year-old man for breaking in to a different restaurant on Main Street and for twice attempting to break in to a jewellery store in December 2015. Police did not identify the restaurant, the store, or the suspect.

The 19-year-old admitted to burglary, attempted burglary and causing criminal damage, and was granted $5,000 police bail with a signed surety for his appearance before the Magistrates’ Court, police said.
