Police found an illegal gun during one traffic stop this month and illegal drugs during another, according to a June 16 press release.

During a routine traffic stop on June 12, police pulled over Akiya Brewley, 33, of Nottingham Estate, who was charged with carrying an unlicensed firearm and failing to stop at a traffic light.

Ms. Brewley was granted bail of $30,000 with two signed sureties to appear in Magistrates’ Court on July 28, the press release states.

The following day, police conducted another routine stop of Devon Dawson, 48, of Pleasant Valley, who was charged with six counts of unlawful possession of a controlled drug, six counts of unlawful possession of a controlled drug with intent to supply to another, and cultivation of cannabis, the press release states.

Mr. Dawson appeared in Magistrates’ Court last Thursday, according to Police Information Officer Akia Thomas, though she did not provide further details.
