Pastor Cromwell Oliver Hodge and Captain Wendell Parsons will receive the BVI Badge of Honour during a ceremony on Tuesday morning at Government House.

After consultation with Premier Dr. Orlando Smith and Opposition Leader Andrew Fahie, acting Governor Rosalie Adams accepted the recommendation of the BVI Honours Committee to award the two community members.

Mr. Hodge assisted Pastor Wesley Forbes in establishing several missions that were formed in Tortola out of the Road Town Baptist Church, including Long Look Bethany Baptist and Cane Garden Bay Baptist, according to government.

He also taught at the Road Town Primary School, the BVI High School and Alexandrina Maduro Primary School.

Mr. Parsons has captained ferries as well as the government launch, St. Ursula, which transported government officials between Tortola and the sister islands.

Mr. Parsons also worked as a security officer for the government building that then housed the former post office.

He continued to ensure safekeeping of that property until earlier this year when he retired, according to government.

A member and former treasurer of the Road Town Methodist Church Men’s Fellowship, Mr. Parsons has visited the sick and the elderly for the past 17 years in addition to caring for his son, who has special needs, government stated.
