Patrick William McLellan, 71, of Florida, still has not been found after going missing in the waters off Cooper Island on April 6, according to police.

The active search has been called off since Tuesday night
but investigations continue, Police Information Officer Diane Drayton said. The search underwater will only resume if police get any leads, she added.

Mr. McLellan’s sons recalled their father stating that he was going for a swim near their chartered 52-foot catamaran Rumba while they snorkelled around a reef near Cooper Island, according to police. When they returned to their boat, he had not returned. Virgin Islands Search and Rescue, divers from Sail Caribbean Divers, and the police began their search the same day. They eventually called off the effort that night because of poor visibility, but resumed the next day.

Ms. Drayton said the incident is not being treated as suspicious.
