There are several gangs operating in this territory, United States Virgin Islands police officers warned during several meetings held here last week.

Last Thursday at Elmore Stoutt High School, Officer Labelle Campbell started his presentation by showing participants photographs he took around ESHS and in Purcell Estate. They showed graffiti that the officer said were gang signs.

Those symbols, Mr. Campbell advised, should be removed immediately in order to prevent gang activity from spreading. He added that the VI should deal with the growing gang problem before it reaches the level it has reached in the USVI.

“If we know of these youths who are at risk, immediately remand them to counselling,” Mr. Campbell urged.
