A vehicle collided with a Road Town electrical transformer box early Saturday morning, causing a power outage, in what police said was a “hit and run.”

“The vehicle was left at the scene, and the driver wasn’t in the vehicle,” Police Information Officer Diane Drayton said Tuesday.

Police continue to investigate and have not yet made any arrests, she said.

Attempts to reach BVI Electricity Corporation General Manager Leroy Abraham were unsuccessful as of the Beacon’s print deadline yesterday afternoon.

In another incident, a motor-scooter rider was injured in a collision with another vehicle at the intersection of Waterfront Drive and Hospital Road last Thursday afternoon.

“The young man on the scooter was injured,” Ms. Drayton said. “He was treated at Peebles Hospital and released.”
