Cliff Creque, a Virgin Gorda resident accused of using a firearm to intimidate others, was found not guilty at the High Court on Friday.

According to Stephen Daniels, Mr. Creque’s defence attorney, the jury initially deliberated for about three hours, but could not reach a verdict.

Justice Vicki Ann Ellis then provided jurors with further direction, the attorney said, and after an additional 30 minutes of deliberating, they returned with a majority verdict of eight to one not guilty.

The Crown accused Mr. Creque of firing multiple shots near the vicinity of Crab Hill in Virgin Gorda on Oct. 20, 2013.

Senior Crown Counsel Leslie-Ann Faulkner claimed the defendant had fired his gun with the intention of frightening three men who were walking by on the street.
