Six children took the stage in Virgin Gorda on Sunday hoping to receive the title of prince or princess.

The annual competition was held at the Catholic Community Centre as part of preliminary activities for the VG Easter Festival, according to Siobhan Flax, pageant public relations officer for the festival committee.

The participants – Kaori Bascombe, Kenrick Stevens, Jahdique Winchester, Shanique Isaac, Kimberly Barry and Ayana McQueen – competed in four segments.

Jahdique and Shanique took home the crowns.

The pair also walked away with the titles of Best Introduction and Best Talent, while Shanique and Kenrick won Best Career Wear and Best Eveningwear. Ayana and Kenrick were awarded Most Photogenic.

The pageant went well, Ms. Flax said.

“The kids were very brave, and it was a very cute show,” she said.

The event was one of several activities scheduled ahead of the Easter Festival, which will take place April 23-25.
