Two Virgin Gorda residents were charged with firearm-related offences in relation to a robbery over the weekend, police reported on Tuesday.

Richard Creque, 44, of North Sound, was charged with robbery and possession of an illegal firearm with intent to injure.

Neil St. Rose, 42, a native of St. Lucia residing in Gun Creek, was charged with possession of an illegal firearm and criminal damage.

The two men were reportedly getting into a car outside a bar in Virgin Gorda on Saturday night when a gun fell out of Mr. Creque’s pocket, according to police.

A patron also in the parking lot then allegedly picked up the firearm and put it in his pocket. But after Mr. St. Rose threatened that he had another gun, the patron agreed “to a search,” police said.

“The firearm was retrieved and then used to rob the patron of money and his car keys,” the press release stated.

The man ran away and a gun was reportedly fired. Police said Messrs. St. Rose and Creque then fled the scene.

No one was injured in the incident. The firearm in question has not been found.

Police asked anyone with information about illegal firearms to contact the police Intelligence Unit at 368-9339.

“All information will be held in the strictest confidence,” police reiterated.
