This week Premier Andrew Fahie is leading a Virgin Islands delegation to the annual Overseas Territories Joint Ministerial Council being held virtually from Monday through today.

The response to the Covid-19 pandemic is one of the main discussion topics this year, but the agenda also includes the United Kingdom’s exit from the European Union, economic resilience, constitutional relationships, international trade, and environmental protection, according to Government Information Services.

The JMC is an annual forum that allows for dialogue between OT leaders and UK representatives.

Ministers typically exchange views on political and constitutional matters of mutual interest and discuss priority areas for the year ahead, including economic and social development as well as governance, according to GIS.

Besides Mr. Fahie, the VI delegation includers Health and Social Development Minister Carvin Malone; Premier’s Office Permanent Secretary Dr. Carolyn O’Neal-Morton; Attorney General Dawn Smith; Financial Secretary Glenroy Forbes; International Affairs Secretariat Director Najan Christopher; Communications Director Arliene Penn; Special Envoy to the Premier Benito Wheatley; Tracy Bradshaw, acting director and UK/EU representative at the BVI London Office; London Office Deputy Director Siobhan Flax; and London Office Political Affairs Officer Xante Chalwell.
