A vaccination drive will be held on Saturday and Sunday and again next weekend at the Dr. D. Orlando Smith Hospital, the BVI Health Services Authority announced on Friday.
“The main aim of the two-weekend drive is to provide convenience for residents who may not be able to come during the week to have their booster doses of Pfizer vaccine,” the BVIHSA stated in a press release.
The agency added that the United Kingdom Joint Commission on Vaccination and Immunisation has recommended second booster doses among vulnerable populations including residents and staff in care homes, frontline health and social care workers, adults ages 50 years and older, people with chronic diseases, people with immunosuppression, and people in a clinical risk group.
On Aug. 12, Governor John Rankin took his second booster shot and fourth dose of the Pfizer vaccine. He noted that the current batch of vaccinations is set to expire at the end of September.
The vaccination drive will take place between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. over the weekend.
