Rain showers on Monday morning may have dampened the clothing of about a dozen Enis Adams Primary School traditional dancers, but it didn’t dampen their spirit.

The children danced through rain at the Cappoons Bay celebrations held to mark H. Lavity Stoutt Day on Monday.

Speakers later compared their attitude to that of Mr. Stoutt, the territory’s first chief minister, who they said was persistent in ensuring that the Virgin Islands was progressive.

The event started with a wreath-laying ceremony at Mr. Stoutt’s grave at the Cappoons Bay Burial Grounds. Participants sang hymns before the wreaths were placed on the tomb by attendees including Mr. Stoutt’s wife Hilda.
