Public officers who aren’t full members of the Virgin Islands Civil Service Association are missing out, said the group’s public relations officer Keiyia George, who was preparing for a general meeting scheduled for yesterday after Beacon press time.

For one thing, there are the tangible benefits, she said: Full members, those who pay annual dues, can get discounts from businesses.

“We want people to see the non-tangibles as well,” she said. “It’s like a labour union. If you have a dispute, we can represent you.”

The agenda for yesterday’s general meeting, a meeting when all public officers are welcome, was scheduled to be a full one. The group was to dissolve its current executive council ahead of upcoming elections.

Members were also to set dates for the election and for nominations and to present the quarterly financials, Ms. George said.
