A woman accused of attacking her boyfriend’s estranged wife appeared at the Magistrates’ Court on Friday to face charges of criminal damage and assault causing actual bodily harm.

East End resident Estavani Chavez, who did not have a defence attorney, allegedly became involved in an altercation with Aleecia Smith, her then-boyfriend’s spouse, on Anegada on Oct. 28, 2015, alleged Crown Counsel Herbert Potter.

Ms. Smith’s necklace was damaged in the incident, the prosecutor said.

Both women claim the other attacked first, and there are no other eyewitnesses, Mr. Potter said.

Ms. Smith is also facing charges stemming from the incident.

Senior Magistrate Tamia Richards granted Ms. Chavez $40,000 bail signed with one surety.

She was ordered to return to make her plea on April 15.
