A female pedestrian was treated for minor injuries at the Dr. D. Orlando Smith Hospital following a hit-and-run last Thursday near Delta Gas Station in Pasea Estate, police said.
The incident occurred shortly after 8 p.m. on the dual carriageway, according to the Police Information Office.
“Preliminary information suggests that a female pedestrian was crossing the eastbound lane of the roadway when she was struck by a vehicle travelling from west to east,” the office said in a press release. “The driver reportedly attempted to brake but was unable to avoid the collision.”
The woman was thrown into the air before landing in the road, but the vehicle fled the scene immediately, police said.
Emergency medical services responded promptly and transported her to the hospital, where she was treated and released.
As of Tuesday, police had not made any arrests, but they said they were still working to find the driver and the vehicle.
They are asking anyone who may have witnessed the incident or who may have information that could assist in identifying the vehicle or driver to contact their Intelligence Unit at 368-9339 or the anonymous Crime Stoppers hotline at 800-8477 (TIPS).
Police promised to provide more information as it becomes available.
