New events are scheduled for the 2014 Caribbean Arts and Crafts Festival, and organisers are asking artists to sign up now.

Held at different venues around the territory from March 8-12, the festival will feature artists and crafters from the Virgin Islands and several other Caribbean countries and territories.

Besides displays of work for sale, plans include educational workshops, an award ceremony, preservation efforts, and other activities, according to organisers.

Students will be offered free display and sales space in a “Youth Artisan” tent. During a day dedicated to school visits, young people also will get the chance to meet the artisans and learn from them.

Another new feature next year will be an afternoon dedicated to discussing trading arrangements with the visiting artisans.

The festival, which also includes music and other performing arts, is organised by the Caribbean Artisan Network.
