“I would call this near perfection,” she said. “We had perfect weather and the sun was out every day. The winds were just a tiny bit light, but we got in plenty of races and people were extremely satisfied and happy.”

Ms. Petz said 88 boats from 17 nations worldwide participated in the weeklong event, which kicked off with a welcome party at Nanny Cay on March 27 and concluded with an awards ceremony on Sunday evening.

Some participating boats docked at the new marina being constructed at Nanny Cay, according to Ms. Petz.

“It gave us even more room,” she said, adding that everyone was pleased with the new facility.

Participants were also able to learn a little history on Maritime Heritage Day, which was held for the third time last Thursday.

Attendees got an up-close look at three traditional-style Tortola sloops that were built in the Virgin Islands as they raced near Nanny Cay, Ms. Petz said.

“It’s an opportunity for people to really learn about the marine heritage of the island,” she said.
