Virgin Islands residents and visitors will have additional flight options to and from Puerto Rico starting in December, according to interCaribbean Airways.

The carrier plans to increase its number of flights from Beef Island to San Juan to at least two a day, it stated in a press release.

Additionally, there will be three flights a day to San Juan on Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday.

“These new AM and PM services give the opportunity for business and leisure travelers in the British Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico to visit for a day and be home in time for dinner,” the release stated. “These flights, operated by EMB 120 aircraft, are the fastest turbo prop aircraft in its class, making it the quickest connection.”

The Turks and Caicos Islands-based airline will also make at least two flights a day back from San Juan to the Terrance B. Lettsome International Airport, as well as three on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday, according to the release.

“Since we first began service into the San Juan-to-Tortola [route], we have seen a steady increase in the demand for our flights,” said Trevor Sadler, interCaribbean chief executive officer. “We are pleased to respond to this demand with significant increase in flights between two favourite islands — and in addition to new daily flights from Tortola to Antigua.”
