The body of a 41-year-old St. Thomas man, who was shot multiple times, was found in the Garden Street area of St. Thomas on Sunday.

His alleged murderer was later arrested aboard a ferry that was preparing to leave for Tortola, the Virgin Islands Daily News reported.

Giraldy Jean-Simon, 22, was arrested at the Edward Wilmoth Blyden Marine Terminal, where he had purchased a ticket for the 8:45 a.m. ferry on Monday morning, according to the newspaper.

Mr. Jean-Simon was charged with first-degree murder, first-degree assault, third-degree assault and possession of a firearm. He was denied bail and placed into custody, the news report stated.

It wasn’t the only homicide in St. Thomas on Sunday.

Police also discovered the body of Lucas Reid Jr., 24, in the driver’s seat of Honda Civic, according to the newspaper. Mr. Reid had been shot several times. Police continue to investigate, the report stated.
