Painters, carvers and other artists from around the region came together to show off their wares this weekend in Trellis Bay, and today the members of the Caribbean Artisan Network will be at the Sir Olva Georges Plaza in Road Town.

Today’s event, which is set to include demonstrations as well as a sale, is open to the public, and Virgin Islands students are being encouraged to attend as part of the festival’s theme for the year, “Inspiring Youth Creativity.”

Event organiser Aragorn Dick-Read said he hopes that seeing artisans working firsthand will encourage young people to consider traditional crafting as a viable career option, calling the regional crafting sector a “potentially vibrant area of the economy.”

Artists are scheduled to be at the plaza Tuesday until 5 p.m. On Wednesday they’ll be at Bitter End Yacht Club in the morning and at Little Dix Bay in the afternoon.
