When Maya Riether, a 32-year-old tourist visiting from the United States, walked in to the Cane Garden Bay Police Station to report an altercation she had with a CGB bartender, she had blood running from her nose and onto her clothing, Police Information Officer Diane Drayton said Tuesday.

The incident, which took place Sunday, involved Ms. Riether and Al Henley, 47, who owns Big Banana bar in CGB, Ms. Drayton said.

Following an argument and physical altercation at the bar, Ms. Riether walked to the police station to file a report.

“She was then transported to Peebles Hospital to seek medical attention,” Ms. Drayton said, adding that the alleged victim was treated for several scratches and a fractured nose.

Mr. Henley was charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm, and Ms. Riether with common assault, a charge that was later dropped when the two appeared in Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday.

Henley was granted bail and ordered to return to court on June 1.
