When Steve Wooster awoke aboard his boat Lionheart two days before Christmas Day, he noticed the doors to the saloon of the catamaran had been swung open during the night. Then he noticed his laptop was gone.

Mr. Wooster, a boat captain who owns the company Aristocat Charters, was docked at the time in Sopers Hole and reported the incident to police. He said he’s heard of several incidents of boats being boarded and burglarised in recent weeks. He fears that the loss of the laptop, a silver Macbook Air that stores his company data, could negatively affect his business.

The burglar also stole a pair of blue Croc shoes and a small toolkit, he added.

Police Information Officer Diane Drayton said police are currently investigating the Lionheart incident and another Dec. 22 boat burglary at Sopers Hole. Items taken from the other boat included a camera, an iPad and some Christmas presents, she said.

Ms. Drayton said police also are investigating a Christmas Day burglary on a boat at Nanny Cay. The incident, in which an iPod was allegedly stolen, was reported the next day.
