Prepare for takeoff

InterCaribbean Airways has announced that it will start offering flights between Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands on June 1.

The flights between San Juan and Beef Island will take place twice a day on EMB 120 Brasilia aircraft that have the capacity to seat 30 passengers. “We look forward to providing additional options for the BVI and Puerto Rican citizens and visitors alike with this new service,” interCaribbean CEO Trevor Sadler said. The new service follows interCaribbean’s offering of Sunday flights between the VI and Antigua, which started in December.

Financial services

The Financial Services Implementation Unit announced on Monday that it’s kicking its campaign to “engage the population” into high gear. The campaign will include a weekly newspaper and online news column providing information on the industry from various sources and perspectives; a monthly television programme on JTV, which will air on the third Thursday of each month; and a series of public service announcements on radio and television “to increase your awareness, education and understanding of financial services,” the FSIU stated. The department also announced that a “Financial Service 101” manual available at bviforward.vg explains the basics of the financial services industry.
