An employee of the BVI Electricity Corporation died suddenly while working in Virgin Gorda on Monday, according to Police Information Officer Diane Drayton.
Alex George, a resident of the sister island, was reportedly working on a utility pole near the Yacht Club Costa Smeralda marina at the time of his death.
Police would not confirm whether he was electrocuted, and BVIEC officials could not be reached for comment.
Local band VIBE posted a Facebook tribute to Mr. George on Monday, writing, “We join with the Virgin Gorda community to offer our sincere condolences to the family and friends on the tragic passing of Alex George aka Antz. May the fond memories forever remain in your hearts.”
