The High Court trial of Walter Cameron for abduction and indecent assault charges didn’t take long to complete, with the case beginning last Wednesday and ending a day later.

The longest part of the trial was the jury deliberation, which lasted more than three hours before jurors returned a not-guilty verdict on the abduction charge and a guilty verdict on the indecent assault charge on Friday.

According to the complainant, who also took the stand as a witness, Mr. Cameron offered her a ride to her home in West End from Moose Bar in East End on the night of Jan. 28, 2012. But instead of giving her a ride home, he drove her up island and made repeated, unwanted sexual advances, she said.

Mr. Cameron exercised his right to not testify. Asked if he would appeal the guilty verdict, his attorney, Corine George, said the decision hadn’t been made yet.
