Peace means caring, peace means sharing, and peace is inspirational, Cedar International School primary students said Friday during an assembly.

They were surrounded by a display of small flags that they had painted to illustrate their ideas about peace and happiness.

The event was part of Peace Flags in the Wind, a project founded by Joseph Vasile, a Miami-based artist who has collected similar art from children around the world.

Mr. Vasile, who is documenting each step of the project, stood in the audience taking videos and photographs as the students spoke.

The initiative began four years ago, and has since collected some 6,000 peace flags to display at the Rosa Parks Museum in Alabama, according to the artist.

Mr. Vasile plans to continue asking as many children as possible to express their ideas about peace.
