It’s a trendy buzzword, but “sustainability” is a term that Denaye Hinds believes is becoming more and more relevant to the travel industry.

Ms. Hinds, director of sustainability for the architectural firm OBMI International, said Tuesday that travelers are becoming more conscious of the impact they have on the world around them. To reduce that impact, OBMI partnered with Green Globe, a United States-based organisation that promotes sustainable practices, to offer certification of companies’ facilities and business practices.

Ms. Hinds, who visited the territory this week to promote the certification to companies here, said that the certification assesses the environmental, social, economic and management aspects of a firm’s sustainability.
