Some Virgin Islands businesses have hung their holiday decorations. Carols are already playing around Road Town. And on Saturday, scores of residents gathered in the Sir Olva Georges Plaza for the Lions Club’s annual Christmas tree lighting ceremony.

Tomorrow, holiday activities will resume with Christmas on Main Street. About 45 vendors will participate, according to Lynette George, treasurer of the BVI Small Business Association, which organises the annual event.

“We have a lot of activities, including mocko jumbies and Santa Claus,” Ms. George said. The two-day event is to start at 10:30 a.m. tomorrow and 11 a.m. on Saturday and will continue until midnight both days, the organiser explained.

Besides local food and gift items for sale, there will be concerts on both nights featuring VI groups, such as school choirs, Ms. George said.
