Shorome Fahie, 25, of Greenland, pleaded not guilty in Magistrates’ Court Monday to charges that he assaulted a police officer after being told to move his jeep from a Road Town sidewalk.

On July 22, at about 11:30 a.m., Mr. Fahie allegedly parked his jeep on a sidewalk along the James Walter Francis Drive, near the Festival Village Grounds, Crown Counsel Jude Hanley said. Police Constable Andy Lawrence approached and told him to move the vehicle, Ms. Hanley said.

“It is alleged that Mr. Fahie slammed the vehicle door and walked off,” she told Magistrate Tamia Richards.

Mr. Lawrence again approached Mr. Fahie, asking him to move the jeep, the prosecutor alleged.

“It is alleged that this time, Mr. Fahie sucked his teeth and began to walk away,” she said.
