The Duke of Gloucester will visit the territory from March 5-9  as part of celebrations for the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee year, government announced Thursday.

The visit will give the Virgin Islands an opportunity to learn about the role and work of the British royal family, according to Government Information Services.

To celebrate the 60th anniversary of her reign, the Queen has asked members of the Royal family to travel overseas to visit every realm, as well as Commonwealth countries, Crown dependencies and British overseas territories on her behalf.

The duke’s visit is to “cover a variety of themes, including education and youth, tourism, the environment, culture, heritage and sport,” according to GIS.
