Government’s Dental Services Unit is temporarily closed, but the BVI Health Services Authority has partnered with a private clinic to provide dental services to schoolchildren and seniors over the age of 65.

Formerly located on the fourth floor of the Glancina George Building in Road Town, the DSU has suspended service “until further notice,” according to a press release issued Sunday by the BVIHSA.

During the suspension, which is due to the transition to the new hospital, children and seniors will be able to access care at Premier Dental in Fish Bay, according to BVIHSA CEO Darlene Carty Baptiste.

“Until the services become fully operational at the new Peebles Hospital, it is critical that the BVIHSA provides dental care,” Ms. Carty Baptiste said. “The joint venture with Premier Dental will allow the BVIHSA to provide dental services to school age children and persons over 65 years of age for emergency and nonemergency cases.”

The DSU will hold clinics on Tuesdays and Thursdays at Premier Dental. For more information call 852-7662 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Anyone who is not school-aged or over 65 years old is asked to make an appointment with a private dental provider, according to the BVIHSA.
