Caribbean Sustainable Fisheries and Nanny Cay Resort & Marina partnered to host the first ever Mahi Mayhem Fishing Tournament over the weekend, drawing 14 boats and 56 anglers.

The tournament saw 573 pounds of mahi, wahoo, tuna and kingfish caught on Saturday and Sunday, according to the event’s organiser, CSF owner Giles Cadman.

The top prize winner was a vessel from St. Thomas, Emmanuel, which won a total of $9,500 for scoring the heaviest mahi, the second heaviest mahi and the heaviest overall catch.

Two boats from the Virgin Islands, Venator and E&S Team Nanny Cay BVI, caught the heaviest yellowfin and wahoo, respectively, and the St. Thomas boat 2 To Tango caught the heaviest kingfish.

The event also featured staff from the CSF presenting a talk on the lobster farm the company operates in Pockwood Pond, and hosting an activity where children built their own lobster farm.

Mr. Cadman said CSF has committed to organising the event for five years, with next year’s tournament scheduled for March 3-4.
