Stanley Gordon, a veteran public servant and educator, was buried at Greenland Cemetery on Saturday after a funeral service at the Long Look Methodist Church.

Mr. Gordon died on Oct. 11 at the age of 75.

During a career that lasted for about half a century, he served in several high-level government positions, including director of tourism, chief immigration officer, and permanent secretary in various ministries, according to a funeral booklet.

In a tribute, Deputy Premier Dancia Penn called Mr. Gordon “one of those few pioneering senior civil servants who was so instrumental in setting the ministerial system of government in our country off to a good start.”
