In response to the recent news that National Health Insurance would take effect by January, the Insurance Association of the BVI issued a statement last week along with a list of questions and concerns about the impending programme.

The IABVI claimed that for most residents who are already insured, NHI will cost more and offer fewer benefits than existing plans.

The association also questioned how claims will be handled by the NHI scheme, as well as the details of how the system will be funded.

On Wednesday afternoon, Health and Social Development Ministry Permanent Secretary Petrona Davies provided the Beacon with a list of responses to 10 questions included in the IABVI’s original statement.
