The Social Development Department is currently observing Child Abuse Prevention and Awareness Month.

The observance, which kicked off with a Sunday service at St. William’s Catholic Church, is themed, “Helping Children Heal Together through Prevention, Intervention and Treatment.”

Educational activities are planned throughout the month, including puppet shows in most public schools, radio and television appearances and a parenting seminar.

On April 28 the month will climax with a campaign themed, “Drive Blue: Wear Blue!” On that day, residents are encouraged to display a blue ribbon, the official symbol of child abuse awareness, according to Government Information Services.
