Willis Blackett, 27, was convicted last Thursday by a unanimous High Court jury of five counts of unlawful sexual intercourse with a girl under the age of 16.

Mr. Blackett met the girl in 2008 and had sex with her at least five times in 2008 and 2009, according to prosecutors. The girl ultimately became pregnant, and Mr. Blackett acknowledged having sex with her and told women involved in her care that he would take responsibility for the baby, Crown Counsel Sarah Benjamin told the court in her opening statement.

But while testifying on his own behalf last week, Mr. Blackett, who described himself as an “entrepreneur” operating a car rental business in West End, denied having sex with the girl.
