Several women were treated to free massages and health screenings as part of the territory’s observance of International Women’s Day on Thursday.

There was a steady flow of participants at the Office of Gender Affairs’ health fair at the Central Administration Building, according to Lorolie Connor, OGA coordinator.

Representatives from organisations such as the BVI Diabetes Association, the BVI Cancer Society and the National Aids Programme answered questions and provided advice.

“Here should embrace International Women’s Day, even though it is an international recognition,” Ms. Connor said. “I think here in the Virgin Islands, women have accomplished so much in the past 20 to 30 years.”
