H. Lavity Stoutt Community College is offering perks that officials hope will bring back students who stopped attending because they owe outstanding fees.

Under the Financial Amnesty Programme, returning students will have to pay only half of what they owed prior to fall 2014, according to the college.

“We realise that many students face challenges in realising their goals,” said HLSCC President Dr. Janet Smith. “We want to do what we can to assist them and to encourage them not to give up even when hardships arise.”

The programme is currently being implemented and will run through Dec. 23.

Meanwhile, the college is also reminding students of its “Academic Forgiveness Policy,” which allows for “the administrative removal of low grades depending on various factors, so that they may not affect a student’s grade point average as they continue their studies.”
