Artificial candles lit the path for more than 300 people who attended Jazz on the Hill on Saturday at St. Mary’s School.

The lights led concertgoers to the breezy school ground, where several musicians performed for close to five hours.

The eighth Jazz on the Hill featured United States artist Ronnie Laws, as well as the John Pierce Quintet. The event rounded off with a performance by Dominica’s Michele Henderson.

As the artists performed, attendees lay on mats or blankets or sat on folding chairs in the field in front of the stage.

Organisers were pleased with the turnout, according to St. Mary’s School Principal Laura Fox. “We were concerned about the weather earlier, but we had a wonderful and successful evening,” she said.

The two-day fundraising event began with a dinner and musical performance at CocoMaya on Friday and ended with the concert on Saturday.
